Imagine being able to process 3D components with a surface area of up to 1,250 mm × 1,250 mm with a laser in one piece without having to stop. This is exactly what the highly developed Large Field Removal technology from ACSYS offers you. LFR® can be combined with various laser sources and is always suitable where large working areas are required. The entire area is processed without moving the axis in the X and Y directions. This gives you new freedom when designing products, components and design elements that fulfill the highest demands in terms of appearance and quality. Thanks to continuous laser processing, the spot size of the laser remains precise and there are no visible protrusions or overlaps during processing.
Paint removal / paint stripping / decoating
The precise layer-by-layer removal of paint or coatings from workpieces without damaging the underlying material is also possible with Large Field Removal where large work surfaces are required. This allows, for example, day/night design effects or new design options for interior and exterior parts to be realised that go far beyond the possibilities offered by conventional printing technology.In the automotive and mobility sector in particular, leading manufacturers and suppliers rely on LFR® technology from ACSYS as a non-contact and material-friendly process for the selective laser ablation of thin layers.Even complex 3D geometries can be partially stripped or decoated with the help of Large Field Removal.

Kornwestheim/Berlin – ACSYS, market leader in laser processing of dies and punches in the Mint industry, will be presenting various technological innovations at this year’s “World Money Fair” from February 1-4, 2024. At Stand D4, Hall 2, the supplier of high-precision standard and special machines in the field of laser technology will be presenting innovative solutions for flexible, resource-saving de-coating, engraving and polishing in the Mint industry, among other things. Users and interested parties can convince themselves of the most important advantages of ACSYS solutions: high flexibility in the consideration of even very special customer requirements, high performance, and independence in process design.

With the appointment of Alexander Aminidis as Head of Global Business Unit “Mint & Print” ACSYS pushes its commitment in the field of coin and banknote production. The bundling of expertise in a separate business unit is the logical next step towards continued benchmark setting in the coin industry in the future. And also to further advance the possibilities of novel security processes using laser technology in the production of banknotes. “We are convinced that with the new structure and Alexander Aminidis heading the business unit, we will actively shape the future in the “Mint & Print” sector,” said ACSYS founder and CEO Gerhard Kimmel at the official announcement at the company’s headquarters in Kornwestheim.

Around 80 international visitors and industrial laser technology experts were drawn to the Stuttgart metropolitan region on June 21/22. More precisely, to the company headquarters of ACSYS Lasertechnik GmbH in Kornwestheim where the ACSYS LaserTech Days 2023 took place under the motto “Precision & Innovation”. On the occasion of the company’s 20th anniversary, well-known international brand manufacturers came to the in-house exhibition to learn about the latest developments in the field of high-precision laser technology. A lecture program full of highlights provided the framework for the event. The spectrum ranged from innovative processes for selective paint removal using the patented Large Field Removal (LFR) technology in the automotive and mobility sectors, direct laser engraving and pulse forging in coin minting, to the automation of processes using the VDMA OPC UA standard for laser systems and a look into the future of laser micromachining.
Of course, there were also plenty of insights into practical laser processing with ACSYS hardware and software. The new PIRANHA® system generation with Ultra Short Pulse Laser (USPL) and lightweight steel construction as well as slim footprint celebrated a premiere. In addition, the focus was on robotic and automation solutions as well as the patented Large Field Removal (LFR) system for selective paint removal on large areas (2000 x 2000 mm).
Gerhard Kimmel, founder and managing director of the company, draws a positive conclusion: “It’s great that we can finally experience joint events again without any restrictions. First and foremost because of the interpersonal aspect. Fantastic weather, great guests and technical discussions with depth – that’s what a successful event looks like to me.” Since the foundation of ACSYS Lasertechnik in 2003, laser processing has been the focus of all products, solutions and services. With now more than 120 employees at the Kornwestheim and Mittweida sites, ACSYS has become the first address for high-quality solutions for engraving, marking, structuring, welding and cutting with high-precision laser technology.
