Laser machining centre PIRANHAµ from ACSYS as expert for minting industry

PIRANHA®µ –
The expert for minting industry

The PIRANHA®µ was developed for the minting and high quality engraving industry.
The ACSYS laser minting industry specific machine was created with five solutions, to existing pressure points in the fine engraving industry and specific requirements of the coin producing industry in an extremely compact housing:

1. Digitizing:

Plaster models, embossing dies, coins, medals and
other surfaces are scanned to reveal every detail, some not noticeable to the human eye.

2. 3D laser engraving:

Three-dimensional surface textures can be
transposed on different materials, and directly on
minting die stamps.

3. Micro engraving:

Authenticity certification in μ range.

4. Frosting and surface structuring:

Purposeful frosting and new optical effects by
precise structuring.

5. Edge lettering:

Laser engraving of roll and knurling tools.

THE PERFECT TOOL FOR:

  • Digitizing of plaster models
  • Digitizing of already existing embossing
    dies for coins
  • Digitizing of old coins
    and medals
  • 3D laser engraving of positive and negative embossing dies for coins
  • 3D micro laser engraving of punching dies
  • High precision 3D laser engraving with optical
    bass control
  • Laser engraving of roll and knurling tools for marginal marking of coins
  • 3D micro laser engraving
of identification attributes direct on finished coins
  • Safety specific engravings and structures on embossing dies for coins
  • Frosting on embossing
    dies for coins
  • Detailed and precise structurings on embossing dies for coins
  • Different frosting structures on an embossing die for coins in one workstep
  • Personalisation of coins

Ultrahigh-resolution cameras
and dual camera preview

The camera setup module, Live Adjust System® of ACSYS, makes highly efficient work possible with the laser.

The high resolution camera gives an accurate preview on the workpiece and as this is shown on the computer monitor, it is easy to access and if needed work on till the desired image is formed.
Within the AC LASERS software operators have the possibility to write texts, designs and then position these either in 2D or 3D directly in the illustration of the workpiece. Then defining or outlining the area for frostings precisely.

The Laser marks, engraves and frosts exactly by your design specifications and the applied material specifications in the program.
Our dual camera solution offers the maximum of precision. In addition to the external camera a ultrahigh resolution camera shows the workpiece directly through the course of the laser beam.

High precision dual camera solution

High precision dual camera solution. One camera captures the working area, the second camera "looks" directly through the laser beam and enables a high resolution recurrence of the workpiece.

Digitizing and depth measuring system:

Digitizations as well as the depth control function are based on hologram technology and makes for extremely precise 3D digital images on all surfaces, plaster models, embossing or directly from coins and medals.

The resulting 3D file can be used for production and
reproduction and can easily be processed in AC LASER or in any other CAD software. An advantage of contactless scanning is the high speed and the small detail measuring capabilities.  Where absolute accuracy is needed it is easy to just change lenses to a greater magnified lens which fits in just a few seconds.

The ODC - Online depth measuring system works accurately according to the same principle as the digitisation and offers a way during the engraving to precisely control the focal distance.

Precision and efficiency

The PIRANHA®µ offers a variety of functions for the production of embossing dies for coins and punching dies.

Among batch production PIRANHA®µ enables also series productions of various embossing tools in one workstep. Thereby, different devices maintain the position of their workpieces.

The programming is made alike batch production with the camera-based LAS - Live Adjust System®. Thus, several 3D laser engravings,
surface texturings and frostings can be produced
in one workstep.

Special traverses with glass scales, the granite portal and the granite table which is embedded into polymer concrete offer an extraordinary precision.
