LASER CUTTING

Plastic cutting

Laser cutting of plastic offers advantages compared to conventional cutting processes especially when flexibility and the highest quality are required.

Plastics are cut the same way as metals are, by heating up the material locally above the melting point. The melted material in the focal point of the focused laser beam is removed by a gas directed coaxially to the laser beam and a flat joint is created. The separation edge is high in quality, since unlike the conventional process, no micro cracks are formed.

In areas such as the automotive industry or cosmetics industry, where aesthetic considerations play a great role, the high quality of the laser plastic cutting offers a great advantage.

Unlike precision cutting of metals, a Galvo head can also be used. Without mechanical tracking of the axes, the laser beam is only guided onto the material to be cut by deflection mirrors. This is possible for thin materials such as foils or thin plastic mats.
No gas is required. The laser melts the plastic in a fraction of a second and separates it reliably.
